Playing Field Update
Keeping residents up to date with progress in improving the facilities at the playing field
Published: 25 January 2025
The long awaited work to improve the drainage in the Playing Field off Sedgemoor Way has been completed. A maintenance plan has been drawn up. Verti-draining and application of special sand has recently taken place and will help to keep the drainage system in good order.
The dogs on lead order is in force with notices on all entrances to the field. Dogs can still be exercised in the field but must be kept on leads at all times which will ensure that they are under better control. It will also be easier for owners to see when they go to the toilet which should reduce the issue of dog fouling on the field. A review will be undertaken a year after the start of the implementation of the order as this will give time for things to settle in and also to gain the views of all concerned.
Dogs must not enter the three fenced children’s play areas in the village at Sedgemoor Way, Higher Road and at Lynham Close. This has always been the case and it has been confirmed in Somerset Council’s new Order. Dogs can still be exercised in the Lower Playing Field.
Woolavington Playing Field Junior Parkrun, is on every Sunday at 9am at the field. It is a free event and is a 2k run for 4-14 year olds. Parents can also run but just don’t get a registered time.
