Keeping residents up to date with news relating to the Playing Field.
Published: 31 December 2025
The long awaited work to improve the drainage in the Playing Field off Sedgemoor Way has been completed. A maintenance plan has been drawn up. Verti-draining and application of special sand has taken place and will help to keep the drainage system in good order.
For the purpose of clarification, the Dogs on Lead Order for the Playing Field was discussed by the Community Foundation on 30th April 2025, when it was agreed that the Order should remain in place at all times. The recommendation from the Community Foundation was agreed by the Parish Council and therefore the Order remains in force at all times in the field. Somerset Council will review the Order every three years.
There are notices on all entrances to the field. Dogs can still be exercised in the field but must be kept on leads at all times which will ensure that they are under better control. It will also be easier for owners to see when they go to the toilet which should reduce the issue of dog fouling on the field.
Dogs must not enter the three fenced children’s play areas in the village at Sedgemoor Way, Higher Road and at Lynham Close. This has always been the case and it has been confirmed in Somerset Council’s new Order. Dogs can still be exercised in the Lower Playing Field.
Woolavington Playing Field Junior Parkrun, is on every Sunday at 9am at the field. It is a free event and is a 2k run for 4-14 year olds. Parents can also run but just don’t get a registered time.
The men’s football team play in the Sunday Bridgwater & District league.
