National Grid Update

An update has been received from National Grid regarding the proposed sub-station

Published: 30 August 2025

An update on National Grid Electricity Transmission’s (NGET) activity on-site in the coming weeks. This is in relation to the proposed National Grid substation that will power Agratas’ battery manufacturing facility nearby, which is currently under construction.
From 4 September 2025, they will be installing facilities at the temporary welfare compound off Higher Road to support the construction of the substation. Please see the map attached for reference. This area will include temporary office cabins, which will provide essential office space and welfare facilities for workers in support of our operations in Woolavington.
Working hours for the installation will be between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and it is anticipated that the work will take approximately 11 weeks to complete. They have a robust construction traffic management plan and construction environmental management plan to mitigate the impact of our work.
Please note that the transportation of specific items, which require a movement order and a police escort, may be transported to the site outside the above hours in agreement with the relevant authorities.
Later in the Autumn, the main works to construct the substation will start, subject to the approval of Somerset Council as the Local Planning Authority. Residents will be updated in advance of works commencing.
