Work to Trees

The Parish Council had to carry out work to a tree in the Cemetery and an ash tree at the Causeway in the interest of public safety.

A field maple tree was planted in the Cemetery in 1993 in memory of Philip Day who lived in Bitham Walk and served on the Parish Council from 1985 until 1991. The tree flourished until May this year when it was noticed that there was considerable die-back and by July it was virtually dead. It was agreed to pollard the tree to make it safe and if possible a shrub will be planted to climb up the trunk.

It was also noted that the ash tree on the wide verge at the Causeway was starting to suffer from ash die-back and lean towards the road. It was decided to remove this tree in the interest of public safety.
