National Grid Substation – Proposed Piling Work

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) will be carrying out piling works at the Woolavington Substation site from 8 April 2026 for approximately one week

Published: 25 March 2026

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) will be carrying out piling work for approximately one week as part of its early works package at the site. The team will install ground foundations for a new switchgear control building.

Residents may hear noise or see dust during this work. To minimise disruption, they will use best-practice dust suppression measures and conduct daily noise checks and environmental monitoring to ensure activity remains within appropriate limits, agreed with Somerset Council.

Teams will work 7am–6pm Monday to Friday, with construction starting from 8am. For more information and updates, visit the project website: www.nationalgrid.com/electricity-transmission/network-and-infrastructure/infrastructure-projects/woolavington-substation
